Wryter:

Isn't that Elvis Costello?

Yup! Born as Declan MacManus. The song, which kicks ass, is on his "Mighty Like a Rose" album, and was co-written by a guy in a band that I like lots more than you! Not bad, tho, eh??

It really feels like "Oh! Darling" to me - isn't that Paul, too?

EDW: YES!!! Sounds like it, and that was Paul, too. Paul co-wrote this and a couple of others with Elvis. They said EC was a gritty counterpart like Lennon was. And for a total "Behind the Music" moment, EC then went on to write some good stuff with Burt Bacharach. [And without Austin Powers, Burt probably wouldn't have made it on the "cool" list again like he did.]

And to think, all of this when I had started looking for "Red Shoes" on YouTube.
